The Conspiracy Formerly Known As is the one hundred fifty-sixth issue of the series.
The Future Writer explains that Anonymous is a vigilante trying to get rid of "them," then describes "them" as an unspellable scribble. Ridley and Mother Brain are confused, and the Future Writer reveals that only certain people can hear their real name; others just hear the unspellable phrase. Back at the hospital, the Writer reveals to Samus and Oveur that he researched Admiral Dane and discovered five years of his life are missing from the records.
- The idea of a secret society blocking people from hearing their name correctly is a reference to the Patriots from Metal Gear Solid, who are called the "La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo" by unauthorized characters. Ridley references this by comparing the unspellable scribble to the "New England La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo," meaning to say the football team, the New England Patriots.
- The issue's title is a reference to the singer Prince, who changed his name to an unpronouncable symbol and was referred to afterwards as "the artist formerly known as Prince."
